University of Rhode Island’s Therapy Dog Basil

Thank you to our friends at Providence College’s Personal Counseling Center, we were made aware of the addition of Basil, the University of Rhode Island’s new puppy and therapy dog in training. According to Lindsey Anderson, Director of URI’s Psychological Counseling Center (PCC), “The goal is really to get animals into spaces where they are most needed. And there is no greater need than college campuses, given what’s happening with mental health among college students.” The addition of Basil to URI’s campus is another great example of the impact therapy dogs can have on a college community.
