Cooper, Northeastern University’s Community Resource Dog
When reaching out to the Northeastern University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS), I was told the UHCS doesn’t have a “therapy dog”, but they have something just as great! Meet Cooper, a two year old blonde haired English golden retriever named after Northeastern University’s ‘Cooper’ative Education Program. Cooper spends his time on the Boston campus and is always ready to offer a soft paw and a warm snout as Northeastern’s community resource dog. Cooper received his training at Golden Opportunities for Independence in Walpole, MA and has officially become part of Northeastern’s Police Department’s staff. As the college’s community resource dog, he is tasked with showering stressed students and weary staffers with kisses and affection, as well as help officers forge friendships and new connections with students on the Boston campus. Keep up the great work Cooper! If interested in following Cooper’s journey, his instagram is @itsnucooper.
