Challenge Success Fall Conference

I attended the Challenge Success Fall Conference 9/30/22 - 10/1/22 at Bentley University in Waltham, MA with Jed Wartman, Thayer Academy’s Assistant Head of School for Student Engagement and Well-being, along with our Upper School Director, Middle School Director, school counselors, and two other student representatives. We learned more about the Challenge Success approach and how some aspects of Challenge Success could be incorporated at Thayer Academy.

We participated in roundtable discussions and SPACE related workshops. SPACE stands for the following:

Students’ Schedule & Use of Time

Project & Problem-Based Learning

Alternative & Authentic Assessment

Climate of Care

Education for the Whole Community

After learning more about Challenge Success SPACE Examples, our Thayer Academy Challenge Success Team met as a group to plan our approach to implementing some of these changes at our own school. We will be meeting regularly and I feel hopeful as to the changes Thayer Academy can make to promote student well-being.
